Fuel Subsidy: Making Sense of the Real Enemy

Many people do not understand the politics behind fuel subsidy and its dangers to the development and growth of Nigeria.

The intention of the government to subsidise petrol was simply to make the product affordable for Nigerians and make life easier. So, the average price of petrol in the world can be as high as N590, however, the Nigerian Government will subsidise the product and fix price at N185 bringing total amount of subsidy per litre to N405.

The average consumption of litres of petrol in Nigeria per day is 60 million litres. However, Marketers of the product loads as much as 100 million litres and above per day.

This means the Nigerian Government is expected to pay as much as N405 × 100,000,000 (litres) as subsidy per day to the Marketers of the product to keep prices at N185 for instance. This brings the amounts to N40.5 billion daily and about N1.2 trillion monthly. Kindly take note that this amount can either decrease or increase following prices of petrol at the international market.

So, just try to wrap your head around it and know what Nigeria expends on fuel subsidy alone in a year - obviously some billions of dollars.

Here's the irony of whole arrangement

1. Petroleum Marketers (major petrol dealers with tank farms) usually divert larger quantity of the subsidised petrol to neighbouring countries to resell at the international market price. So, they make same amount of money the Nigerian Government has paid on the subsidised petrol at the neighbouring countries.

2. This makes the product relatively scarce in Nigeria as the left over becomes lower than the daily consumption in the country. The implication is that petrol stations will be selling fairly higher than the fixed price of N185 (some sells N190, N205, N225, N250 and so on depending on the area). And during peak periods of scarcity, which are also engineered by the marketers, Nigerians still buy same subsidised petrol for as high as N400, N500 and even N800 as the case was in first quarter of this year while sleeping in filling stations. Again, marketers make double.

3. Marketers also import above the daily consumption of 60 million litres as seen above and still force the federal government to pay subsidy on the excesses, which are usually part of what they smuggle to neighbouring countries. Again, marketers dupe Nigeria.

4. This entire scenario makes a mess of the good intention of the Nigerian government to make petrol affordable for Nigerians.

5. This scarcity and high cost of the product despite subsidy leads to arbitrar increase in the cost of living. Transportation for instance, goes up crazily.

Moves to Remove Subsidy & Reactions

Therefore, successive federal governments having seen the outright abuse of the subsidy policy have always tried to cancel the policy so that market forces can determine the cost of petrol.

More so, the huge amount of money paid into the pockets of Marketers can be channeled to other meaningful venture such as infrastructural development, agriculture, social security, technology, health, etc.

However, whenever the move to remove subsidy is made, the Marketers are quick to shutdown their filling stations and deprive Nigerians access to the already subsidised fuel in their possession. This leads to instant scarcity regime and hardship (like we are already witnessing).

And while the marketers make more money on one hand, they force and instigate Nigerians against the federal government with the hardship created on the other hand.

Then, the innocent Nigerians who do not understand the politics behind subsidy go on strike, protest, attack the government and force her to continue the subsidy regime. We pay more for our ignorance at the long run.

The marketers are happy; they remain the top billionaires in Africa. Everyone loves them, wish to be like them, and celebrate them. Whereas the federal government count her losses, takes the insults, bears the bad name and pity uninformed/suffering Nigerians like you and me.

Will you support Tinubu to break this cartel, this subsidy syndicate and give us freedom or you will remain adamant and spread the hate?

CAUSE OF SLUMPING IN THE BATHROOM

 *FAINTING OR SLUMPING IN THE BATHROOM,*

*What is the cause?*

We always hear of people who have stroke after a fall in the bath.

Why have we not heard of falling elsewhere?

When I took part in a healthy lifestyle course, a National Sports Council Professor, who also participated in the course, advised that:

 ๐Ÿ‘‰ the head should not be washed first in the process of taking a bath (even washing of the hair).

๐Ÿ‘‰ other parts of the body should be cleaned first.

This is because when the head is wet & cold, blood will flow to the head to warm it up.

๐Ÿ‘‰ If the blood vessels have narrowed, it is likely to cause the blood vessels to rupture.

Since it usually happens in the bathroom, be sure to raise the awareness to avoid this happening again.

*CORRECT PROCESS OF BATH TAKING:*

 ๐Ÿ‘‰ Start the wetness from the sole of the foot.

 ๐Ÿ‘‰ Progress to the Small legs, the thigh, abdomen & then shoulder.

At this point, pause for 5-10 seconds.

 ๐Ÿ‘‰  A feeling like steam/wind overflowing from the body may be observed; & then take a shower as usual.

 *✅ WISDOM:*

When a glass is filled with hot water & then suddenly emptied & filled with cold water; what happens?

 ๐Ÿ‘‰ The glass will burst๐Ÿ’ฅ!!

Then, with regards to the human body, what happens?

 Naturally, the body temperature is very hot, whereas the water is very cold,

๐Ÿ‘‰ a cold shower on the body or the head directly would suddenly trap the wind, or deaden it, because the blood vessels got broken.

This is why people often suddenly fall over in the bathroom; due to wrong bathing method. And that often causes a stroke or causes a migraine.

 *ADVICE:*

๐ŸšฟThis bathing method is suitable for all ages, especially those with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Cholesterol & Migraine/Headache

Please, don't only just get enlightened by this; kindly share with your families & friends as well.

Nigerians needs to change not Nigeria

When Awolowo's daughter was punished by her senior prefect, she left Ekiti State for the state house at Ibadan since she was the daughter of the Premier. The second day the Premier was at the school assembly in the morning. The Principal and the teachers were apprehensive. Then, the Premier asked who it was who punished the daughter. The senior prefect moved to the front after signifying with raising of her hand. Awo approached her shook her hand and gave her £2 after thanking her for the punishment. He was thereafter, escorted to his car and off he went to his office at Ibadan.

These were days when parents were parents.

*Derogatory but factual*!

*TIME FOR SINCERE PROPER  SELF REVALUATION:*

 **In Nigeria, we are just a dishonest, unpatriotic and ungodly human beings on the path of self destruction* .

 _A shame on our race._

 *I totally agree with the following by Bar Ola Kunle Allison: who says*

*Religion is not our albatross in Nigeria* .

 It has never been.

 *WE ARE JUST A SICK INDIGENOUS PEOPLE BLAMING EVERYTHING* _BUT OURSELVES._

I just saw a short documentary on *CNN* about the *Emirate of Dubai (an Islamic State)* and *her many disruptive and record-breaking technological/innovative strides, and my heart sank into despair* .

 *Dubai* is NOT a *country* . It is just *one out of seven emirates that make up the UAE* .

An Islamic country which declared *independence* from *Great Britain* in *1971* .

Yet, *Dubai is the fastest growing Science and ICT hub in the world. Yes, you read that correctly; in the world!*

As I watched the documentary and *marveled at the unbelievable leaps in education, innovation and infrastructure achieved within 50years,* I began to compare *the emirate with our own Emirate of Sokoto and Emirate of Kano back home.*

 ```Folks, the difference is a universe apart.```
 *Did you know that the Emirate of Dubai has singlehandedly launched 2 satellites into Space?*
Did you know that the last *launched spacecraft* had the *innovative signature of a Dubai teenage girl on it?*
 *A teenager who dreams to be the first astronaut on Mars* .
Did you know that by 2020 the Dubai emirate launched *its first Mars Exploration Spacecraft?*
Did you know that the Dubai emirate currently has the largest number of *FOREIGN RESEARCH SCIENTISTS AND ICT EXPERTS IN THE WORLD?*
 *This is a deeply culturally Islamic State prioritizing Science, Technology and Futurism.*
What then is different about their own *practice of Islam and the ones we have here at home?*
What is different about their practice of *Islam* which *encourages a teenage girl to aspire to Mars* while *emirates at home marry off under aged girls?*
What is different about their practice of Islam *which prioritizes innovations and science* , while even *Churches* back at home only *prioritize buildings and tithing?*
 *Guys, religion is not Nigeria's albatross.*
 Anyone who argues *otherwise* is *thinking fallaciously.* Nigeria is messed up because we *have our own issues.*
 _Our orientation, our mindset, our value-system, our sociocultural ethics, our ways are deeply_ *ANTIPROGRESSIVE!*
I just saw men in *Arabic gowns and women in Arabic purdah* (the moderate ones) having a dialogue about championing the next *frontiers in science and innovations.*
 *Any so-called Christian who defends the kind of Christianity we practice in this country is part of the problem.*
For now, the *Emirate of Dubai* is the *leader of the Arab World* .
 *A well deserved title.*
#truth is sacred
Selah.
 *PROFESSOR ISA HUSSAINI OF FACULTY OF PHARMACY UNIVERSITY OF MAIDUGURI WROTE* :
 _The blame for what Nigeria has become falls on you and me. Not Buhari, not Jonathan, not Obasanjo and definitely not Abacha._
 *OUR WICKEDNESS STINKS TO THE HEAVENS AS WE GO ABOUT OUR DAILY LIVES, PULLING DOWN EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING TO BECOME RICH.*
We import substandard products, fake drugs and expired baby food unfit for human consumption and *we have the nerve to complain about leadership?*
 *We even steal from widows, orphans, weaklings and refugees. We take their food and sell it for profit. No conscience.*
Nothing is sacred. No one is spared.
 *WE BUILD SUBSTANDARD ROADS, SCHOOLS, HOUSES, HOSPITALS, ALL FOR PROFIT AT THE EXPENSE OF HUMAN LIFE;AN INVALUABLE ITEM WHICH ALL OUR PROFIT AND CONTRACT SUM CANNOT BUY.*
One would think this behavior is reserved for urchins *but it would surprise you that this is the character of many decent looking people who appear to be normal but are not any better than Boko Haram members.*
 _They are church members, Muslims, husbands, wives and sadly youths_ .
 *WE PERVERT JUSTICE AND PRETEND WE DO NOT KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG JUST TO SERVE OUR SELFISH INTERESTS.*
 *Slave traders pale in comparison to what we do to ourselves.*
WE ARE WICKEDNESS PERSONIFIED.
 *So much hatred flows in our blood and we transfer it to our children. It's evident in what we say and do.*
We have fasting and prayer sessions all year long, night vigils and deliverance when the actual problem is *us* .
 *WE SIMPLY CANNOT LEARN TO LOVE OTHERS . IT IS ME, ME, ME. THAT IS ALL THAT EVER MATTERS. IT IS SICKENING.*
 *Anyone who cannot love has no business in Politics,  Government Parastatals / Agency  and in Nigeria.*
 *Until we understand  this, we will continue on this path of destruction* .
Popular Cartoon Shrek Creator William Steig with Wrestler Maurice Tiye
 Photo Credit: Facebook
The creator of the popular cartoon Shrek, William Steig, drew his character from the professional wrestler Maurice Tiye.
The real prototype knew 14 languages, played chess brilliantly, and despite his frightening face and great strength at first glance, he was a very modest and friendly man.
He was born in 1903 in Russia, in the Urals, into a French family, which in 1917 returned to France in connection with the revolution.
History of Osogbo
Photo Credit: Facebook
History Of  Osogbo
One of the most accepted history of Osogbo can be traced to 1670 AD. As History had it, It all started with the journey of a famous hunter called Olutimilehin, who hails from Ipole-omu not far from Ibokun. Olutimilehin came across a local Dam while he was in hunting in a place called Gbonmin, around Oke-Baale area ( part of present day Osogbo ) .
Due to the water scarcity facing his community he went around to see if the dam will be capable of sustaining his people. Olutimihen was sad because the dam cannot sustain his community. In his quest Olutimilehin found a stream called Okrokro, which he traced its source to River Osun ( part of present day Osogbo ) . Olutimilehin went back to his community and inform the king, Larooye Gbadewolu of his findings. The king and his subjects later moved to settle at the flood plain and built his first palace later Known as Ile - Osun.
Overtime Larooye and his subjects engaged themselves in farming activities in their new found land. History learn that One day as they were clearing the bush for cultivation they incidentally fall a tree, damaging the Indigenous industry of the spirit world. A voice was heard from the river saying "Laro! Timehin! You have broken my dyeing pots".
Other voices from the spirit world were heard saying! "Oso-igbo pele o, Oso-Igbo rora o. (Oso-igbo we cormistrate with you). Later Larooye got to know the name of the spirit Queen as Oso-igbo (widely believe to be the goodies of River Osun). This is why the Osun goddess was, and is still regarded as the spiritual mother of Oba Larooye and all the succeeding Ataoja (King of Osogbo). History also has it that Larooye and his subjects move to the upper terrace in the plain which they later called OKE Ohuntoto at the present day Osun Groove.
 As King Larooye community population grows the groove and their already flourishing market was abadon as they moved to Ode-Osogbo after the usual Ifa devination. The abandoned market centre and the iledi ohuntoto are today important historical monuments in the Osun grooves. At the Ode-Osogbo, Larooye built his new palace at called Idi-Osun while Timehin built a Shrine known as Idi-Ogun. Larooye and his subjects discovered that their new settlements was a centre where footpaths from Oyo, Ekiti, Ijesa etc converged.
