1. Trump threatens EU tariffs over Canada-EU plan
U.S. President Donald Trump warned he would impose "very serious tariffs" if the EU moves forward with Ursula von der Leyen's proposal to make Canada the bloc's first associate member, calling it "laughable". Von der Leyen made the proposal in her State of the Union, calling for deeper ties in "an openly hostile world".
